We’d like to say a massive thank you to AJ Bell for an incredibly generous donation of 10 laptops to support what we’re doing with 3D printing and digital skills.
For us, these aren’t simply 10 laptops. They give us the opportunity to expand what we can offer and, most importantly, allow more children and young people to get hands-on with technology.
Supporting Our 3D Printing Classes
Our 3D printing classes are all about giving people the chance to learn how 3D printing actually works.
Rather than simply watching a printer, learners can get involved in the whole process – from creating and adapting designs to preparing a model for printing and then seeing their own creation come to life.
Having 10 laptops available means we can now run much more practical sessions, with learners able to work on their own designs rather than having to share equipment.
Making Our 3D Printing Parties Even Better
The laptops will also become an important part of our 3D printing birthday parties.
Our parties are a little different from the traditional birthday party. Young people get to have fun while learning something new, experimenting with 3D design and printing and creating keepsakes that they can take home afterwards.
With a full set of laptops available, we’ll be able to get everyone designing and creating at the same time.
Something New Is Coming in September…
From September 2026, we’re also planning to open up opportunities for local community groups, including organisations such as Scouts and Girlguiding, to come along and use our facilities.
We want to start offering sessions that can support young people working towards digital skills, technology and related badges and awards.
3D printing is a brilliant way of introducing digital skills because it combines so many different areas. Young people can learn about computers, 3D design, problem solving, measurements, creativity and manufacturing – and at the end of it they get the satisfaction of holding something that they’ve actually helped to create.
The donation from AJ Bell makes it possible for us to start thinking much bigger about these sessions.
Technology That Will Be Put to Good Use
Every one of these laptops will be put to work.
Whether it’s a child designing their first personalised keyring, a birthday group discovering 3D printing together, or a Scout or Guide developing new digital skills, these laptops are going to help introduce many more young people to technology in a fun and practical way.
So once again, a huge thank you to everyone at AJ Bell who helped make this donation possible.
We genuinely appreciate the support, and we’re looking forward to showing you just how much use we can get out of 10 laptops!
